Bears terminate DT Fluellen's contract

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) The Chicago Bears have terminated the contract of vested veteran defensive tackle Andre Fluellen.

The team announced the move on Monday.

The 6-foot-2, 302-pound Fluellen has played in 56 games with six starts over five seasons with Detroit (2008-12) and Miami (2012). He has 52 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

Bears, Kyle Long agree to deal

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) The Chicago Bears and first-round draft pick Kyle Long agreed to a four-year contract Friday.

The deal includes a fifth-year option. It also puts all the Bears' picks under contract.

A 6-foot-6, 313-pound guard from Oregon, Long was taken with the 20th pick as the Bears try to beef up a line that ranked among the worst in recent years and give Jay Cutler the protection he needs.

Bears add Fields, Irvin, Tupou, Jones

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) The Chicago Bears have signed receiver Demetrius Fields along with defensive tackles Corvey Irvin and Christian Tupou while reaching a contract agreement with cornerback Maurice Jones.

They also announced Monday they released linebacker Dom DeCicco and cornerback LeQuan Lewis.

Fields, Irvin, Tupou and Jones had tryouts during Chicago's minicamp this past weekend.

Bears agree to deal with rookie free agent Jones

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) The Chicago Bears have agreed to a contract with defensive back Maurice Jones, a rookie free agent from Temple.

The school announced the move on Sunday.

An occasional starter during his four seasons, Jones played in 11 games last year and had nine tackles. He also played on kickoff and punt returns along with the field goal defense unit.

Blanchard looking for chance to impress Bears

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) Chicago Bears quarterback Matt Blanchard had little chance to impress coaches last season or during an April minicamp, so he did what he could to make the most of his chance to throw at the team's rookie camp that ended Sunday.

That included wearing a camera on his helmet.

To get a better idea how Blanchard understands the offense, the Bears had him wear a unique helmet camera so they could see where he looks at the defense and when during the sequence of running plays.

Top Bears pick Long has school to wrap up

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) The Chicago Bears' draft picks have plenty of obstacles to overcome in the next few months while trying to fit onto the roster.

In Kyle Long's case, there is an extra challenge.

The team's drafted and undrafted rookies, along with a handful of recently signed free agent veterans, began the process of fitting in at rookie minicamp Friday. For Long, the three days of practices are the only chance he gets to work out with the Bears until training camp in late July.

Bears agree to 4-year deal with LB Bostic

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) The Chicago Bears have agreed to a four-year contract with second-round draft pick Jon Bostic.

A linebacker at Florida, Bostic started every game his final two years in the middle for the Gators and figures to compete with veteran free agent acquisition D.J. Williams for Brian Urlacher's old job.

Bostic made eight sacks, 19 1/2 tackles for loss and five interceptions in his four-year Florida career. He ran a 4.6-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine and bench-pressed 225 pounds 22 times.

Walter Payton's mother dies after long illness

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) Alyne S. Payton, the mother of late NFL Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton, has died in Jackson, Miss. She was 87.

Family members say she died in the hospital Monday after a long illness.

Officials with Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home say services are scheduled for Friday at Black's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson. Burial will be Saturday in Resthaven Cemetery in Columbia.

Bears agree to 4-year deals with Greene, Wilson

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) The Chicago Bears agreed to four-year contracts with two more draft picks in linebacker Khaseem Greene and receiver Marquess Wilson.

The deals were announced Thursday, one day after offensive tackle Jordan Mills and defensive end Cornelius Washington reached agreements. The only picks the Bears haven't signed are first-rounder Kyle Long and second-round selection Jon Bostic.

Greene, a fourth-round pick, had 387 tackles and an NCAA-record 15 forced fumbles at Rutgers. Wilson, taken in the seventh round, set Washington State's career receiving record with 3,207 yards.

Bears sign 2 draft picks

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) The Chicago Bears have agreed to four-year contracts with fifth-round draft pick Jordan Mills and sixth-rounder Cornelius Washington.

The deals announced Wednesday make them the first picks to sign with their teams.

The 6-foot-5, 316-pound Mills, an offensive tackle, appeared in 37 games with 34 starts in four seasons at Louisiana Tech.
