Analysis: Wood (4-2, 2.24 ERA) allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings. He struck out three and walked two. The last Cubs starter to begin a season with at least nine straight quality starts was Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown in 1908. Wood's fourth career home run cleared the left-field bleachers in the fifth inning.
